The HyFuelUp project was represented at the European Biomass Conference and Exhibition (EUBCE 2026), where Tilman J. Schildhauer (PSI – Paul Scherrer Institut) presented a poster on “Pilot Scale Fluidized Bed Methanation of Gasification Derived Producer Gas with Flexible Hydrogen Addition”.
The work showcases an innovative pathway to convert low-grade biomass into renewable methane (bio-SNG) through gasification and downstream methanation, while enabling the flexible integration of renewable hydrogen.
The presentation also highlighted progress on the HyFuelUp TRL7 pilot plant in Tondela (Portugal), integrating biomass gasification, gas cleaning, fluidised bed methanation, flexible hydrogen addition and gas upgrading to produce renewable methane.
The participation at EUBCE 2026 contributed to strengthening scientific exchange and collaboration across the biomass, bioenergy and biofuels sectors.
