Gonçalo Lourinho, HyFuelUP Project Coordinator, participated in the SEMPRE-BIO Final Event, held in Barcelona on 23 September 2026. The event brought together representatives from different initiatives working on the development and demonstration of biomethane technologies and applications.
During the event, Gonçalo took part in the roundtable “Did We All Hit the Same Wall?”, which focused on the challenges that arise when innovative technologies move from the conceptual stage to real-world application.
The discussion highlighted an important issue for innovation projects: the need to share experiences and knowledge to address the technical and operational challenges that emerge during the development and demonstration of new technologies.
Sharing experiences to drive innovation
Knowledge exchange between projects makes it possible to identify common challenges, compare approaches and learn from the solutions explored by other teams throughout their development processes. These opportunities for collaboration broaden the perspective of individual initiatives and generate insights that can benefit the sector as a whole.
In a field such as biomethane, where technological development must progress towards real-world applications, sharing both achievements and challenges is particularly valuable. Learning from other projects helps prevent similar issues from being addressed in isolation and provides a broader understanding of the opportunities and barriers involved in deploying new solutions.
This commitment to collaboration is also reflected in the work between HyFuelUP and SEMPRE-BIO as sister projects. Both initiatives exchange knowledge and experiences in the biomethane field, strengthening connections between European projects and contributing to collective learning across the sector.
