Portuguese Minister of Environment and Climate Action visits HYFUELUP

On 15th September, the Portuguese Minister of Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro, visited the epicentre of the HYFUELUP project: the demonstration site in Tondela (Portugal).

It is at these facilities that the project will integrate a SEG*/Oxy-SEG process to turn biowaste into syngas with high H2 content (>65%) and a CO2-rich flue gas suitable for catalytic methanation.

This relevant institutional event was attended by representatives of the Portuguese partners of the consortium: BIOREF – Collaborative Laboratory (CoLAB), LNEG, Dourogás Renovável and the Instituto Politécnico de Portalegre, who gave their best once more to present our project to the minister.

“This pilot project, which received community funding through the Horizon Europe program, aims to test a new technology in the production of biofuel for industrial consumption. The adaptation of the manufacturing unit should start next month, and hopefully will come into operation in the second half of 2025”, echoed the local press.
