Introducing the project: From Environmental Performance to Social License to Operate

Tiago Lopes, Assistant Researcher at the Bioenergy and Biorefineries Unit of the National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG), explains the hotspots identified in HyFuelUp’s environmental performance and the mitigation measures in place, as well as the role of the Sustainable Impact Assessment carried out under WP7 in facilitating the project’s future Social License to Operate (SLO).

“By identifying the main environmental hotspots in HyFuelUp, such as energy intensive steps throughout the process, and actively optimising these processes, while also assessing social and economic impacts through stakeholder engagement and recognised frameworks, HyFuelUP is strengthening trust and paving the way for a solid Social License to Operate.”
